It has been three months now since the day I returned to Kazakhstan and went to the Baby House to be reunited with Denis. WOW! I can't believe it has been such a short time because it feels like Denis has always been a part of my life. Today I finally got to have the kind of day I've been dreaming of for years, a celebration with the four of us, and here we are my brother, Denis and I, and my sister.
Denis has been having a hard time getting to know Aunt Ka as he calls Kathryn (she calls herself Ka too, which is too funny). The first 2 weeks Kathryn was in hospital with pneumonia. And then I've only been able to have her home for a few day visits and 2 over night visits, so they haven't spent a lot of time together. And when she is here he tries to engage her and get her attention but Kathryn just ignores him. Well to be truthful she is watching Lawrence Welk, Kathryn ignores everything when she is watching Lawrence Welk.
Denis is jealous of Kathryn to no end, Denis told Kathryn that the Lawrence Welk videos were his and that she couldn't watch them, he also owns the shower and she can't use it, and oh yes, no juice or chocolate milk for her, they belong to him. The second time Kathryn was home Denis watched me helping my sister in the bathroom and he said to me, "Mommy, Aunt Ka lala", meaning Aunt Kathryn is a baby. Which is so true. We've always said that Kathryn's abilities are like that of a 2 1/2 year old, but truly Denis is so much more able than his aunt. I often call Kathryn my baby, I think I must have done it around Denis and he did not like hearing that, but she will always be my baby.
Here are my too babies from earlier today.
We had a celebratory dinner with cupcakes for desert. I asked my brother to take a picture of Denis eating his cupcake, I guess he doesn't trust my brother, he wasn't letting my brother anywhere near the cupcake.
Here's the evidence that Denis really enjoyed that cupcake. And here's to all the month to come with my wonderful little man.
